Minnesota Women Lawyers Website Use, Data Privacy and Security Policies

The following Notices, Terms, Conditions and Policies govern the use of Minnesota Women Lawyers, Inc.'s (MWL) site, network and services. By accessing or using MWL's website, network or services, members and users agree to be bound by the terms and conditions set forth in these Notices, Terms, Conditions and Policies. All MWL members and users are responsible to regularly review these Notices, Terms, Conditions and Policies to determine the most current obligations and requirements.

MWL Website Use Policy

 

Authorization Of Use
Any person is authorized to view the information, images, texts, documents and all other content posted on the MWL website for informational purposes only. MWL may modify the terms and conditions of use at any time, without prior notice, and such modifications shall become effective upon posting on the MWL website. MWL reserves the right to restrict access to its website or the contents contained therein. All users are responsible to review regularly the contents of this Notice to determine the terms and conditions contained herein.

 

Trademarks
The names, logos and taglines identifying MWL's products and services are proprietary marks of MWL or its subsidiaries. Other trademarks appearing on the MWL website may be owned by unaffiliated entities.

 

Content Submission
Certain areas of the MWL website provide for the exchange of information between the user and MWL. Any submission by the user becomes the property of MWL and the user, by submitting such content, represents that it holds title to and the right to use such content and grants MWL the right to use the content of those submissions in accordance with MWL 's privacy policy. In no event will MWL or any of its subsidiaries or affiliates be held liable for its use of such content.

 

Third Party Intellectual Property
Individuals who believe that their intellectual property rights have been infringed by unauthorized use of their protected works appearing at the MWL website may contact MWL and request that the infringing materials be removed or that access to it be blocked.

MWL Data Privacy and Security Policy

The following Notices, Terms, Conditions and Policies govern the use of Minnesota Women Lawyers, Inc.'s (MWL) website, network and services. By accessing or using MWL's website, network or services, members and users agree to be bound by the terms and conditions set forth in these Notices, Terms, Conditions and Policies. All MWL members and users are responsible to regularly review these Notices, Terms, Conditions and Policies to determine the most current obligations and requirements.

Member Data
MWL is a member-driven organization that encompasses volunteer boards, committees, chapters, taskforces, and other related entities. MWL collects and receives information on each of its members (which may include, but is not limited to: name, home address, home phone number, personal email, work address, employer name, title, work email, work number, law school attended, years of practice, general demographics, etc.) and uses this information for MWL-related purposes. MWL does not collect from its members other sensitive personal identifiable information, such as social security numbers, date of birth, state issued identification or government issued identification numbers or financial account/credit card numbers.

 

Bar Leadership Data
MWL may post basic member contact data on its website for those members who hold a leadership position within the organization. Such MWL leadership information would identify the individual member, and include name, the position held within MWL, employer, title, preferred phone number and email address.

In the interest of promoting its activities, MWL leaders may use member data for other MWL-related purposes. Such purposes may include, but are not limited to, coordination of MWL activities, as well as inter-leadership and general publicity communications as they relate to those activities. Any concerns members may have regarding data use or information contained in specific MWL-related web pages which are part of or linked to MWL's principal website, should be reported to Executive Director Debra Pexa at 612-338-3205. If data changes are needed to eliminate concerns, the necessary changes will be made as quickly as possible and as allowed by technology and MWL resources. Privacy concerns will also be reported to the appropriate MWL leaders.

 

Chapters
MWL will maintain some member data and website content for its Chapters. Use of such information will be guided by this policy. However, MWL Chapters are not limited by MWL's privacy statement, as each group decides how to use their specific member data. Members should contact the related Chapter for more information about its data use standards.

Online Member Access
All MWL members who choose to join, renew their membership or access their profile online must establish a username and password in order to secure their member data.New members joining online will be asked to establish a user name and password when submitting their initial application form. If it becomes necessary to reset the username or password for any reason, a member can do so on the member login web page. A confirmation e-mail containing instructions to login will be sent to the primary e-mail address on record with MWL. For security reasons, the member password is encrypted within the MWL membership database. MWL staff will not be able to retrieve a member's password. Members who choose NOT to access or utilize MWL's online services do not need to establish an online username and password. Your Membership is MWL's content management service provider and webhost. Financial Security Standards
MWL has contracted with Your Membership (via Your Membership) to collect credit card numbers and process credit card transactions related to payments for MWL membership fees or services. Their privacy and security policies related to credit card services are available HERE . Furthermore, the major credit card brands established a PCI Security Standards Council in 2006 with the purpose of developing uniform regulations for all businesses that process, store, or transmit credit card data. These guidelines were established to keep fraud and identity theft at bay. As a merchant using Affinipay, MWL is required to comply with all PCI standards and regulations, and to recertify every year. MWL meets all PCI (Payment Card Industry) compliance regulations. Member Directory
MWL provides an online member directory to its membership. This searchable directory, available to MWL members, will be accessed by logging into the website. Directory listings may include the following information as provided by users:

Work Phone Number
E-mail Address
Website
Law School Attended / Year Admitted to the Bar
Practice Area(s)
Practice Type

Upon joining or renewing MWL membership, all members are given the option to be included in or excluded from the member directory. Members may change their designation and/or information at anytime by logging in and updating their profile on the MWL website. Members may also contact MWL Communications Coordinator Sara Goldstein at sgoldstein@mwlawyers.org to request an update. Changes made online are effective immediately.

Mailing List
MWL does not sell, rent or otherwise provide members' contact information or related data to outside groups or entities.

External Requests
MWL reserves the right to disclose any information to law enforcement or other government officials as it feels necessary and appropriate.
