The Minnesota Women Lawyers Equity Committee is pleased to present Non-Profit Board Service: Governance and Ethical Considerations for Attorneys. This seminar is part of a continuing series of events and initiatives offered to further promote and support women attorneys into leadership positions throughout the legal and greater community.

Non-profit board service provides attorneys with a unique opportunity to make a positive impact on their community, as well as gain invaluable leadership skills and experience. However, non-profit service also presents attorneys with unique professional and ethical considerations. During this seminar our panelists will provide an "eyes wide open" overview of non-profit board role and responsibilities, and share their own experiences as board members. Topics will include common legal issues that come before non-profit boards; general governance and ethical considerations; how the rules of professional responsibility apply to nonprofit board service; and questions all attorneys should ask before agreeing to serve. With this essential information, attorneys will be best positioned to make informed decisions about their non-profit board leadership service.
Upon the seminar's conclusion, attendees also will be given the chance to meet representatives from several area non-profit organizations and learn more about potential leadership opportunities.
